Dennis Rush grew up on a tobacco farm in a place originally named Hell, Kentucky. After high school he worked in a factory for two years before enlisting in the Air Force. There, he worked for the Strategic Air Command during the first Gulf War, repairing large scale computer systems. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha while still in the service and has since made a career as a data analyst at several colleges and universities across the country. He and his wife have six children and live in Staatsburg, New York.
“In my latest work I make art out of scenes that are often ignored. Whereas, pop art focuses on everyday items that surround us, I take scenes the we intentionally look away from – the lesser wallpaper of our lives – and attempt to reveal the art. I experiment with many materials and mediums, so there is diversity in my work. I find it exciting that I don’t know what my next project will be”.
