John Lavin has been dedicated to creating ceramic art for more than a dozen years. Originally hailing from the Seattle area John has more recently set up his studio in Rhinebeck NY, a picturesque village along the Hudson River. His ceramic artwork has been shown in the Northwest at a Gig Harbor Washington gallery and also in a number of galleries in Rhinebeck, Hyde Park, Hudson, Brewster, Catskill, Beacon and Millbrook, New York. His work has also been displayed in a number of Hudson Valley venues including the annual Rhinebeck Art Studio Views tour and The Uninvitables. His pottery style is unique and very diverse and always enjoyable to view. Using both Raku and electric kiln techniques John creates unusual thrown and hand built art pieces that are often embellished by the addition of wood, glass, jade and shells. John received his training from Christopher Mathie, an accomplished artist in Washington State. John lives with his wife Linda in Rhinebeck.
