Since my first trip to Japan in 2002, I have been an avid collector of Japanese textiles which I
fashion into wearable art: I collect sumptuous silk crepes, diaphanous summer weight pongee,
crisp, transparent asa (hemp), kasuri (Ikat), indigo dyed cottons and room-sized hemp
mosquito netting. My most recent interest has been Japanese “boro” textiles, which are indigo
dyed clothes and carry-squares with atmospheric wear, sashiko stitching patches and repairs
which I turn into gender neutral garments in a variety of sizes and styles. I love to see how
people look in my creations, so I encourage trying-on adventures. Bring your friends and have
a party to see how you can up-style your look the Japanese way.
