Carolyn Ard

Artist bio

Carolyn has exhibited her sculptures in juried shows, galleries, universities and museums in Indiana, Chicago, and New York City. She has exhibited at South Bend(IN) Regional Museum of Art, Ukrainian Institute of Art (Chicago),  the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis,  Indiana State Museum, and the Eiteljorg Museum of Western and Indian Art (IN).  She has been an artist in the Open Studios Program at the Museum of Art and Design in NYC where her work was on display.

Universities where her work has been on exhibit are Indiana State University and the University of Indianapolis. She has been honored for her teaching of art to elementary school children and children with special needs. She has taught at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Museum of Art  She is a graduate of Indiana University.  Carolyn came from the Midwest.  She lived and exhibited her art in NYC from 2001-2019.  Today she resides in Staatsburg, NY.

Artist Statement

The forms and gestures that I have used in my wood sculptures are now in these watercolor drawings. The process for both begins with a live model. Watercolor was my first medium and to rediscover the joy of color has been my focus resulting in this new work.
